Poco, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, has already firmly rooted in the smartphone market and the presence of phones under this sign in stores is nothing new. Unlike Xiaomi itself, which successively raises the prices of devices (just look at flagships ), those branded with the Poco name can still be attractive choices, offering quite a lot for relatively good money. Poco F5 Pro has some elements from the flagship, although it is not. So what is it and what surprised me about it?

Kit contents
The box in which the Poco F5 Pro reaches us is kept in the black and yellow colors characteristic of this brand. Its interior surprises positively, because we get both a cable terminated with USB-A and USB-C plugs, as well as a 67 W charger (nomen omen the same as in the set with Xiaomi 13 Lite ) .
In addition, a nice addition is a transparent silicone case that also protects the camera island a bit. I always appreciate the presence of such an add-on – no matter how basic it is, it is enough to start with. A protective film has been glued on the screen at the factory.
Design and appearance
I could evaluate the design and build quality of this device with the words “a little good, a little bad”. The whole is made of two glass panes – Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and an unknown origin glass surface on the back and a plastic, matte frame.
The Poco F5 Pro front is flat, the display frames are symmetrical, and – most importantly – relatively thin. At the top of the screen, in the middle, there is a selfie camera in a small hole. All this makes the smartphone look just good from the front and there is nothing to be ashamed of here.
On the back, a fully glossy glass is used, which – depending on the variant – is white or black. And, quite honestly, I regret that I didn’t get the white version for testing, because the black one gets dirty dramatically after literally a moment of holding it in my hand. It is a pity that the manufacturer did not focus on a matte, much more aesthetic finish here.
Two carbon-imitating stripes placed on the longer sides add quite an interesting touch, so the whole thing is not so boring. At the top there is an island with three cameras and a LED flash. It is quite large, but it does not stick out too much – it is within the standard to which the manufacturers have already accustomed us.
The frame, as I have already mentioned, is made of plastic and I like it a bit less. Fortunately, it is matte, so it does not get dirty like the backs and I personally did not manage to scratch anywhere during the tests.
A grille for one of the speakers was placed on the upper frame, because the upper speaker was equipped with two grilles – the one on the frame and the one on the edge of the screen for making calls. There is also an infrared LED to control household appliances, TV, etc. (by the way, Xiaomi is already one of the few manufacturers who still put it).
There is nothing on the left side, while on the right we have the wake-up and volume buttons – I have no objections to their fitting and operation. At the bottom there is a USB type C connector, a second speaker and a slot for two nanoSIM cards. There was no space for a microSD card, which probably hardly surprises anyone.
Display
Poco F5 Pro is equipped with an AMOLED screen with a diagonal of 6.67 inches and, which positively surprised me when I first came into contact with the device, it is a panel with a WQHD + resolution, i.e. 3200 x 1440 pixels. There was also a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
From strictly technical information, it is worth mentioning that this screen is able to display up to 68 billion colors, offers support for HDR10 + and Dolby Vision, and its peak brightness is 1400 nits.
All in all, all this means that the Poco F5 Pro display is simply great in use. The colors – as befits AMOLED – are vivid, the blacks are deep, and the viewing angles are very good. I also have no objections to both the minimum and maximum brightness – this one works especially now, on very sunny summer days.
