POCO F5: Good and painfully correct

Over the past few weeks I had the opportunity to test POCO F5 for you . Why was this call made and to whom is it addressed? Is it worth looking into at all?

POCO F5 is the correct phone

In fact, you can simply admit that POCO F5 is a correct phone in virtually every aspect. Only that it is not outstanding in any of them (at least for an ordinary user). However, I believe that this model will find its target group, especially when the stores will lower the price a bit.

So that you also have a good context of how individual elements work, I will also often refer to my already slightly worn realme 8 Pro .

Alright, enough of the introduction.

Time for… technical specification and first impressions

We will start with the technical specification, which is an important aspect here. Comparing this with the price, which is about PLN 2,200, it is quite decent:

  • 6.67-inch Flow AMOLED DotDisplay, 2400 x 1080 (FHD+) resolution, up to 120 Hz refresh rate, up to 1000 nits brightness (high brightness mode), 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, HRR10+, Dolby Vision, Corning Gorilla Glass 5,
  • procesor Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2,
  • 12GB of RAM,
  • 256 GB of internal memory,
  • Android 13 with MIUI 14,
  • main cameras 64 Mpix f/1.8, PDAF, OIS, ultra-wide 8 Mpix f/2.2, macro 2 Mpix,
  • front camera 16 Mpix f/2.5,
  • 5G,
  • dual SIM,
  • NFC,
  • Bluetooth 5.3,
  • 3.5mm audio jack,
  • fingerprint scanner on the side edge,
  • infrared port (IR),
  • battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh (wire charging up to 67 W),
  • dimensions: 161.11 x 74.95 x 7.9mm,
  • weight: 181g,
  • IP53.

So we have a relatively light (even in a case) phone, refresh rate up to 120 Hz (dynamic), AMOLED, Full HD +, Dolby Vision and up to 12 GB of RAM. At first glance, it looks great and such a specification provides all the things that should be in a phone of this brand. However, I have an irresistible impression that I’ve just seen it all somewhere, and the price in a month or two may be even lower.

The phone arrived in a fairly simple, but at the same time aesthetic and, above all, characteristic box. The black and yellow packaging stuck in my memory so much that I will probably always have these colors in the back of my head when someone mentions POCO F5.

In the set, in addition to some documents, we also get a silicone case, a USB-C cable and a 67 W charger. In the era of withdrawing chargers from sets, such a gadget is certainly a great addition.ALSO CHECK

A few words about quality

When reviewing the phone, one cannot fail to mention the build quality. For many people, this is an important aspect and when choosing a model, they often look at the materials used, design and quality. How does POCO F5 fall in this respect?

In fact, very good, but with great regret I have to say that there is nothing new, revealing or extravagant here. Holding this smartphone in your hand, you simply have the impression that it is another boring average.

I understand that it is difficult for producers to propose something interesting and rediscover the wheel, but such realme, Pixel or new flagships of top brands try, at least a little, to break the patterns, and here it is incredibly missing (perhaps because it is not a flagship …? ).

The reviewed model has a plastic housing and a frame, but don’t let that fool you – it fits really well, nothing creaks here, it doesn’t come off and at first glance the whole thing looks like a durable construction.
